International guidance on shaping fracture prevention policy acknowledges HPP as contributor

29 March 2021

HPP’s work has contributed to the development of new international guidance from the Capture the Fracture® Partnership.

Capture the Fracture® – a multi-stakeholder initiative led by the International Osteoporosis Foundation – has published a new guidance document for policy shaping. The document aims to address the policy needs of secondary fracture prevention, explain the need for post-fracture care coordination platforms, and provide a step-by-step policy guide to design and evaluate such programmes in hospitals and health systems across the world. It is partly based on Osteoporosis and fragility fractures: a policy toolkit, a report developed by HPP in early 2020.

The original HPP report formed the basis of the Osteoporosis and Fragility Fracture Policy Network, which aims to support policy engagement across Europe. Its five ‘building blocks of an effective policy response’ have been reflected in the new guidance from Capture the Fracture®, which takes an international perspective.

Capture the Fracture® Partnership – Guidance for Policy Shaping is available in English and Spanish from the initiative’s website.
