Karolay joined The Health Policy Partnership in April 2021 and was promoted to the role of Senior Researcher in July 2023. She has primarily worked on projects in cardiovascular health and related comorbidities. She is also the chair of HPP’s equality, diversity and inclusion (EDI) committee for 2024.
She is a permanent member of the Heart Failure Policy Network team, leading on research and stakeholder engagement to drive policy change at national and European levels. Karolay has also worked on a variety of projects to engage policymakers in other common and rare cardiovascular conditions, examining key challenges and developing tangible recommendations for advocacy communities to take forward.
Before joining HPP, Karolay worked in advocacy at Genetic Alliance UK, developing resources and campaigns to engage policymakers, healthcare professionals and families in genetic, rare and undiagnosed conditions. She also worked with the Children’s Food Campaign, conducting research to address childhood obesity and food poverty.
Karolay holds an MSci in Neuroscience from UCL with a dissertation on gene therapy for epilepsy. During her studies, she was the managing editor of a student life sciences magazine.
She is fluent in Spanish and English.
