‘I am passionate about working to improve patient outcomes by turning evidence‑based research into advocacy for policy change.’

Plum has worked in healthcare policy and public affairs for more than 15 years and has experience working across a number of healthcare areas including hepatitis, mental health and oncology, both in the UK and Australia. For five years, Plum worked for Rare Cancers Australia to raise awareness of the challenges that people living with rare and less common cancers face, and advocating for targeted research funding and improvements in access to treatments for rare cancer patients.

Plum holds a Master’s in Public Health Nutrition from the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine, where she explored UK government policy effectiveness for tackling childhood obesity. She also has a BSc in Biological Sciences from Exeter University, where her dissertation focused on the emergence of SARS and the policy lessons from pandemics of the past to prepare for pandemics of the future.
