Editorial and Communications
‘It’s a privilege to be part of a team of dedicated and knowledgeable people, who have the ambition and ability to work towards positive change in health policy.’
Madeleine joined The Health Policy Partnership in March 2017 as Senior Editor, and was promoted to the role of Associate Director of Editorial and Communications in October 2019.
She works across all projects, supporting the research team to structure documents and develop narratives. She is responsible for editing and proofreading all written materials, developing internal guidelines and managing the company’s websites. She also provides editorial training and coaching to the wider team.
Before joining HPP, Madeleine was Editorial Manager at a publisher of peer-reviewed healthcare journals, overseeing a portfolio of primary care titles and brand extensions such as conferences and awards. She has been Editor of the British Journal of Midwifery, the African Journal of Midwifery and Women’s Health, and the Journal of Health Visiting – roles that saw her develop a strong interest in maternal autonomy and the social determinants of health.
Madeleine has more than 15 years’ editorial production experience, including roles at award-winning consumer and trade magazines. She has had extensive training in journalism, editing and copyright law. Outside of work, she volunteers as a mentor at an East London school, as part of a project that aims to build young women’s aspirations and resilience.
Madeleine holds a first-class BA (Hons) in American Studies (Literature) from the University of Kent.
