HFPN submits evidence to the EU consultation on cardiovascular health checks

Cardiovascular health checks will only be effective if they change outcomes.
That’s why The Heart Failure Policy Network, for which The Health Policy Partnership acts as Secretariat, has submitted a call to action to the European Commission’s request for evidence on cardiovascular renal metabolic health checks.
The submission highlights how well‑designed cardiovascular health checks can form a cornerstone of prevention strategies. And it emphasises that for health checks to be effective, they must target the right people, include the right tests, be delivered in the right setting, and link to ongoing care.
This means health checks must identify the signs and symptoms of heart failure, with appropriate NTproBNP biomarker testing for people showing these signs as well as for those at higher risk of heart failure (e.g. people with diabetes, hypertension, kidney disease).
This submission to the call for evidence was an important opportunity to ensure that future EU‑led approaches to health checks are ambitious and evidence‑based. Developed through the HFPN’s multi‑stakeholder platform, the submission reflects expert input from across the cardiovascular community.
