All.Can patient survey findings launched

The international All.Can initiative, for which HPP acts as secretariat, has launched a report of the findings of its patient survey.
The report – Patient insights on cancer care: opportunities for improving efficiency – showcases data collected in the All.Can patient survey, which was conducted in 10 countries between January and November 2018. It also includes a selection of patient stories taken from post-survey interviews. Further patient stories will be published on the All.Can website in the coming months.
The All.Can patient survey is, to our knowledge, the first international survey to gather patient perspectives on inefficiency in cancer care. All.Can defines inefficiency as anything that does not focus on what matters to patients.
Almost 4,000 current and former cancer patients and carers completed the survey. The findings reveal four key areas of opportunity to improve efficiency in cancer care, which led to the report’s overarching recommendations:
- Ensure swift, accurate and appropriately delivered diagnosis
- Improve information-sharing, support and shared decision-making
- Make integrated multidisciplinary care a reality for all patients
- Address the financial implications of cancer
All.Can is urging policymakers and the entire cancer community to act on these findings, as improving efficiency in these areas could make a real difference to patient outcomes and experiences of care.
