Equality, diversity and inclusion position statement

At The Health Policy Partnership (HPP), we believe that equality, diversity and inclusion (EDI) are essential to our mission and values. We are committed to creating an inclusive workplace and producing outputs that reflect and respect the diverse communities we serve. This commitment matters to our clients, prospective employees, and policy partners across the health sector.

Our commitments in practice include the following:

Recruitment and company culture

We use inclusive job descriptions, mitigate bias in hiring, and offer reasonable adjustments to support candidates and staff. We maintain a zero-tolerance approach to discrimination and harassment, with clear escalation pathways.

Research and stakeholder engagement

In our desk research, we seek to include literature that has studied under-represented population groups where possible.

We strive for diversity during stakeholder mapping to ensure a wide range of perspectives are included in our work. We seek to facilitate stakeholder participation and overcome barriers to involvement in our projects, for example by translating working group meetings for those members who do not speak English.

Accessible communications and outputs

We use jargon-free, conscious language and inclusive imagery, and we prioritise accessibility in our outputs. Where feasible, we work with our clients to offer translations of our outputs into relevant languages, to make them as accessible as possible. We aim to identify and include literature that looks into health inequalities and unequal access to care, providing a comprehensive picture of the topic in question and how different population groups are affected.

Inclusive events and participation

We design events to be accessible offer multiple formats for engagement.

Values-aligned partners and suppliers

We work with vendors who share our commitment to fair labour practices, such as the Living Wage in the UK (or international equivalents, where possible).

Monitoring and improvement

We collect anonymised EDI data (in line with GDPR) and use it to inform ongoing improvements. Our EDI policy is reviewed annually.

HPP’s EDI policy is monitored and reviewed annually by our internal EDI Committee. For queries or further information, please contact [email protected].
