The Health Policy Partnership (HPP) is working with a steering committee of global experts in chronic hepatitis B to highlight the urgent need to expand access to care and treatments – both established and emerging – for people living with the condition. Together, we have identified major opportunities for enhancing hepatitis B outcomes around the world.
To mark World Hepatitis Day, the steering committee and HPP are unveiling two infographics calling on policymakers and health leaders to bring hepatitis B care closer to communities and prepare health systems for innovative therapies such as a functional cure. These materials, which align with the international #LetsBreakItDown campaign, outline barriers to access and how these can be overcome.
Currently, complex and fragmented care is a major impediment to effective management of hepatitis B, with only 13% of people living with the condition having received a formal diagnosis and just 3% undergoing treatment. This leaves millions of people worldwide at risk of serious but preventable complications such as liver cancer.
These infographics form part of a broader project, initiated and funded by GSK, to drive progress in diagnosis, treatment and care for individuals with chronic hepatitis B. HPP and the steering committee continue to work together to develop a video series and a comprehensive care pathway to further support action and advocacy for a future where everyone living with chronic hepatitis B can access the care and treatment they need.
