Lung cancer experts outline the benefits of care pathways

24 July 2024

In July, the Lung Cancer Policy Network, for which The Health Policy Partnership acts as secretariat, hosted a webinar that brought experts together to discuss how care pathways can improve care and outcomes for people living with lung cancer.

Care pathways are a systematic process of best practice, a ‘path’ people with lung cancer can expect to follow through a healthcare system, from screening and diagnosis to treatment and rehabilitation.

Lung cancer care is typically multidisciplinary and complex. Effective care pathways, regularly updated to reflect best practices, can improve the standard of care for people with lung cancer as well as improving their outcomes. In addition, care pathways can help systems make best use of available infrastructure and resources.

The webinar – moderated by Helena Wilcox, Programme Lead for the Network and Associate Director of Research and Policy at HPP – built on the key findings from the Network’s 2023 report Care pathways for lung cancer: building a foundation for optimal care.
