Lung Cancer Policy Network report explores the role of data in driving screening programmes
13 August 2025
The Lung Cancer Policy Network, for which HPP runs the secretariat, has launched a report based on data from its groundbreaking interactive map of lung cancer screening.
Closing the gap: the role of global data in advancing lung cancer screening shows how data can drive the implementation of effective and equitable screening programmes around the world.
The report looks at initiatives from numerous countries and regions to identify what is working and where progress is being made. It confronts the disconnect between evidence and implementation, and outlines how policymakers, screening leads, clinicians and advocates can use data from the interactive map to inform programme design and accelerate progress.
Uptake of low-density computed tomography (LDCT) screening for lung cancer is limited and inconsistent. However, with investment, infrastructure and commitment, countries can build screening programmes that are data-driven, person-centred and capable of transforming outcomes at scale.
