Madeleine joined The Health Policy Partnership in March 2017, and has been Director of Editorial and Communications since January 2022.

She leads the company’s editorial and communications strategies, and is responsible for editorial quality assurance across all of HPP’s work. She supports the wider HPP team with crafting compelling messages, developing a strong narrative and communicating with different audiences. She provides training and coaching to the wider team on writing and communications. She is skilled in writing and editing for a range of media, along with report layout and web editing.

Madeleine has 20 years’ media experience, including roles at award-winning consumer and trade magazines. Before joining HPP, she was Editorial Manager at a publisher of peer-reviewed healthcare journals, overseeing a portfolio of primary care titles and brand extensions such as conferences and awards. She has been Editor of the British Journal of Midwifery, the African Journal of Midwifery and Women’s Health and the Journal of Health Visiting – roles that saw her develop a strong interest in maternal autonomy and the social determinants of health.

Madeleine is an Advanced Professional Member of the Chartered Institute of Editing and Proofreading and a member of Bloom, a UK-based professional network for women in communications. She has had extensive training in journalism, editing and copyright law, with certificates from organisations including PMA Media Training and the Publishing Training Centre, and holds a first-class BA (Hons) in American Studies (Literature) from the University of Kent.
