New report outlines steps needed to eliminate viral hepatitis in Indonesia

28 July 2018

HPP has worked with CEVHAP on a situation analysis of viral hepatitis in Indonesia, launched on World Hepatitis Day 2018.

The elimination of viral hepatitis in Indonesia is an achievable goal, as long as structural barriers and logistical challenges are overcome, according to a new report The Health Policy Partnership has developed with the Coalition to Eradicate Viral Hepatitis in Asia Pacific (CEVHAP).

HPP has been working with CEVHAP to produce the new report, launched on World Hepatitis Day (28 July 2018).

With over 20 million people thought to be living with viral hepatitis in Indonesia, HPP worked with CEVHAP to conduct a situation analysis, which included more than 20 interviews with key stakeholders. The report offers an in-depth analysis of the country’s unique set of challenges, and aims to equip local stakeholders with the tools they need to advocate for change.

As Indonesia is the fourth most populous country in the world, spread across more than 17,000 islands, many complexities were analysed with essential interventions and challenges highlighted. The report builds on the aims of the WHO’s Global Health Sector Strategy on Viral Hepatitis 2016–2021.

Situation Analysis of Viral Hepatitis in Indonesia: A Policy Report is part of ongoing work HPP has produced on behalf of CEVHAP, which focuses on common strategies for eliminating viral hepatitis.
